Yahoo Small Business – The Right Choice For Web Hosting?

Yahoo Small Business

As you may or may not know, Yahoo Small Business offers hosting. But before you decide to use them, I just want to tell you a little story. And this story might have an effect on whether or not you want to go with Yahoo Small Business.

So our church web site has been with various webhosting services over the years. I have been taking care of maintaining the site through a couple of hosting providers. The choice on who to go with was always handled by someone other than myself. Well a few years ago, the decision was made to go with Yahoo Small Business. And everything seemed to be going fine until just this past weekend of Jan 27th, 2012.

The previous week we had a meeting with the pastor talking about a re-design of the site. We talked about a few options and settled on a Word Press platform which we think is going to be the best way to go. So for the first week we were just looking for a good template to use. We found some we wanted to take a look at. And this is where it gets interesting.

I went ahead and installed word press through our Yahoo Small Business account. The first couple of days things seemed to be going pretty good as we tested some of the themes we had looked at and we settled on one of the Word Press generic themes for now. Then we started to create our pages, work with the menu system, and add some content. This is when we noticed we were getting “Error Establishing Data Base Connection” messages. We were able to refresh the page and continue. At least for a while. Then it just totally went away.

You might imagine how happy I was at that point. I tried to repair the data base but to no avail. So, then the call to Yahoo Small Business to find out what they could do They told me that they were having issues with the servers that held the MySql data base and that it was affecting everyone who was using Yahoo Small Business with MySql and that it could be as long as the next Friday before they got it fixed. They were guessing it would probably be fixed by Wednesday.

The first thing that came to my mind was ‘Why did they not have a mirrored server ready to switch over. I mean an outfit as big as Yahoo Small Business, you would think would have that kind of backup in place.

To make a long story short, they were able to get things up by Thursday Feb 2nd. At least most of the time. I am still seeing ‘Error Connecting To Database’ messages occasionally. But at least Yahoo Small Business has it up and we can continue on.

Will we be staying with Yahoo Small Business? The jury is still out on that. I will be talking with the pastor and letting him know what we went through. As far as your decision to go with Yahoo Small Business, I will leave that up to you.

Autosurf – Does It Work?

autosurf

Does Autosurf work?

While looking for keywords about traffic generation, I came across the keyword autosurf.

What does autosurf mean? It is a means of clicking for credits on traffic exchanges and text ad exchanges on auto pilot. What autosurf does is surf the sites automatically to gain credits for placing your ads on the site.

Why did I choose to write an article about autosurf? Well I noticed that the term was being searched 18,100 times per month on an exact match search. And there was no competition for the keyword autosurf. That is a lot of traffic and why not bring some of that to my blog?

I personally do not use autosurf  and I will give you my reasons….

So the big question is, does it really work? I look at it his way, and this is only my opinion, when using autosurf programs, you are not reading other peoples ads. That’s the whole idea behind autosurf. Doing the surfing for you so you don’t have to sit there and click the mouse and wait for the timers to run out etc.

So using autosurf will get you the credits you need to place your ad. But, if a lot of people are using autosurf, who is actually reading and seeing your ad? If enough people use autosurf, it just seems to me that it would make the use of that particular ad exchange not very productive. If nobody sees your ad, they will not click on it. Because they do not see the ad and click on it, you will not see the traffic you are looking for and because of this you will not get conversions.

Autosuf programs will save you the time it takes to surf and get credits. But is it worth it in the end if you do not see results from the ads you place on the traffic exchanges?

A lot of traffic exchanges now a days are putting things in place to prevent people fron using autosurf. I’m not even sure how many sites actually allow auto surf anymore.

All of that being said, my partners and I have found a way to generate traffic by having our content on the first page of Google and other search engines. With the tools and strategies we have discovered we can get top listing on the search engines for terms like autosurf very easily and quickly as well. We have found that the traffic we receive is very targeted.

If you are interested in learning about the strategies and tools we use to get those top page positions, we are teaching them Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7pm EST. We do record the sessions and give access to our students. Now here is the crazy part. We do this for free. To get access click here.

Getting traffic for key words and phrases like autosurf can really increase your traffic and expand your business. And over the last few months we have proven that we can do it for just about any keyword or phrase.

So come and hang out with us every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and find out how we are doing it.

Looking forward to seeing you on the front page of Google!

To your success!
